African chic trend at Galeries Lafayette

Once again, Galeries Lafayette treats its visitors to an exhibition as eclectic as it is surprising, in an innovative spirit that will delight amateurs and neophytes alike. Forerunners in terms of art and culture, Galeries Lafayette are honoring the African continent and its creative abundance this season. From March 28 to June 10, 2017, codes and horizons come together in an exhibition that we cannot recommend enough: The Coming Day. Before even approaching the exhibition itself, the visitor is immersed in an exotic atmosphere that sublimates the fabrics inspired by wax, the colorful boubous of the frozen mannequins or the Africa Now stagings of the windows of Boulevard Haussmann. For the occasion, the slick photographs of the Nigerian Lakin Ogunbanwo are in the spotlight. Along the aisles, we find themes and colors that respond to each other in compositions that are as sophisticated as they are evocative of an elsewhere that we would like to access, during a walk. Under the Art Nouveau dome, which we will never tire of, the Malagasy visual artist Joël …

When the editorial goes green ...

Often, the city dweller wonders what are the benefits of a modernity which bogs him down under the exhausts and enslaves him at an insane rate… Rather than moaning, why not seek answers, which, oh joy, exist ? You want, through small, simple gestures and a few reasonable choices, to shape a daily life that suits you? Here is our little personal ecology brief (just that). 1- We remain (or we become) epicureans We cannot say it enough, we are (a little) what we eat. Do we want to be bad meat oozing carbon footprint? Or sad green beans with tofu? Neither ! So, to stay greedy (and nice) while paying attention to our dear Mother Earth, two solutions: cook, and find the right places. Here is one where you can go with your eyes closed: it's good it's local it's organic. Café Pinson, 6 rue du forez, Paris 3e, 09 83 82 53 53 2- We purge ourselves, to start well That's it, it's said, we have a new mantra: a healthy mind ...

Rodin celebrates spring at the Grand Palais

That's it it's spring ! We wouldn't say, but it is certain, the beautiful days are looming ... and from March 22, the Grand Palais (which was already pouring into the bucolic with the Gardens exhibition) is celebrating spring with an anniversary exhibition dedicated to Rodin This year we celebrate the centenary of the death of the great French sculptor Auguste Rodin. Considered one of the fathers of modern sculpture, he organizes his work around light and form, and through his pieces celebrates an eroticism that he observes. His followers as his opponents have recognized it: Rodin knew how to give life to his sculptures, the organic movement to inert matter. Where the exhibition surprises, and offers an innovative itinerancy through a work, a priori, hyper known (and therefore frozen), it is through the resonances that it installs. Each generation of artists who succeed him seems, at one time or another, fascinated by his work and install with a more or less discreet dialogue, which works on admiration ...

When culture makes you happy: Top 5 from the editorial staff

We concede it to you, this weather forecast at the beginning of spring looks like Brel's songs, Paris looks like a flat country where the canal would have hanged itself… but after all, why complain? Here is a golden opportunity to make up for the small cultural delays that have taken place in recent times (yes, yes, we know ...) 1 - A staging that brings together opposites The Rodin museum continues to surprise and assert its singularly modern place on the French artistic scene, as underlined by this exhibition which, for the centenary of the sculptor, puts his work in comparison with that of the very contemporary Anselm Kiefer. The two men, attracted by the accident, exploit all areas, manipulate all materials, take cross roads and allow themselves works that grab the viewer. This mirror-constructed exhibition is a success. Rodin Museum, 19 boulevard des Invalides, 75007 Paris 2 - The exhibition of great masterpieces Once again, it is a pleasure to stroll through the very beautiful Jacquemart André museum, which this time highlights 'honor the ...
