Every Thursday evening, in the legendary Deux Magots room, a group of musicians make the air vibrate with the joyful sounds of their double basses, saxophones, pianos and other guitars. Time for a drink or a dinner, let yourself be carried away by this very pleasant concert...
Legendary Germanopratin establishment, Les Deux Magots organizes for the 3rd consecutive year the 'Jazz Thursdays'. Thus, every Thursday evening from 19:30 p.m., the iconic café hosts a trio different. Combining singing with piano, guitar, double bass and drums chords, their desire is simple: to rekindle the flame of the great tradition of jazz in Saint-Germain-des-Prés !
Since the beginning of this musical event, the line-up varies regularly between French and international artists. Several singers and musicians have come from all over the world (United States, Australia, Brazil, Sweden…) to perform at Les Deux Magots!
Here, the jazz played wants to be open et eclectic. If it definitely delights neophytes, amateurs are not left out and appreciate it just as much. Swing, timeless American standards, hints of French songs and bossa nova, incursions into blues or gypsy styles... all the facets of jazz resonate in unison in this mythical room, echoing the artistic past neighborhood.
Note, however, that a final What's new is on the program this year. Indeed, on the occasion of centenary of the birth of Boris Vian, an issue of 'Jazz Thursday' has been dedicated to him every month since 12 September. During this dedicated evening, you will be able to discover the great hits of this unclassifiable artist as well as the standards of the American artists he revered. Actors will also come to read excerpts from his novels to introduce you to his literary work.
