As the 15th edition of Féminalise has just ended, Paris Select is highlighting this competition, which has put women back at the heart of oenology since 2007.
This is a meeting that oenologists the sharpest and other professionals in the sector surely know very well. Created in 2007 by Didier Martin, FEMINALIZE is a global wine competition, which has a particularity making it such a concept away thatunique. All the wines in the running are tasted by a jury…composed exclusively of women, coming from whole world.
Importers, traders, wine merchants, restaurateurs or sommeliers… Regardless of their profession, the 750 tasters annuals are either knowledgeable professionals or seasoned enthusiasts. After their online registration, they are chosen on dossier, with the main criterion being their tasting faculties.
Faculties that they will have to implement during the competition, by tasting all the wines blindly, before recording them using a form containing 39 checkpoints.
At the level of local, we do not find the same story. Indeed, to register and offer your wine, sparkling wine, liqueur or sake to the FEMINALISE, you don't need to be a woman. All producers, cooperative cellars, traders, French or foreign importers are authorized to compete! It suffices that the spirits offered comply with the European regulations and the regulations in force in his country.
At the end of the competition, the medals FEMINALIZE Gold ou Silver are awarded to the best wines tasted. Printed in 3D, they represent a recognized sales tool and guarantee of quality very easily identifiable in the world.
If the 15th edition was held from March 30 to April 8, 2021, Didier Martin remembers that when he started out, no one believed in his project.
"When I created the FEMINALISE 15 years ago, no one believed in this unique concept. Before, in the tasting competitions, there were no women..." he explains before adding on a happier note: "Today, this unique event in the world is meeting with growing success and I am delighted to participate, in this way, in changing mentalities and clichés about women and wine "... In any case, at Paris Select, we can only encourage this avant-garde event, 100% girlpower !
