“La Couleur en fugue” at the Fondation Louis Vuitton

For this unusual exhibition, the Louis Vuitton Foundation brought together 5 international artists: Sam Gilliam, Katharina Grosse, Steven Parrino, Megan Rooney and Niele Toroni. Baptized “La Couleur en fugue”, it tests the creativity of these painters, who come from different countries, of different origins and generations, but who share the same creative desire.
Armed with brushes and pots of paint in every color of the rainbow, the artists in the exhibition redefined the limits of painting. Here, there are no paintings, canvases or other sheets. We discover amazing, super unusual works.

Walls, floor, ceiling, wood, fabrics and other surfaces… These contemporary artists have appropriated their entire environment! We thus discover several dozen works, including the Drapes by Sam Gilliam and the misshaped canvases by Steven Parrino.

Head upstairs to the Fondation Louis Vuitton to discover this dazzling exhibition for all art lovers.

“Coins & Wonders” at the Monnaie de Paris

La Monnaie de Paris is devoting an exhibition to the infinite variety of forms, materials and uses of money. Called “Monnaies & Merveilles”, it is to be discovered from May 12 to September 25, 2022.
Whether in gold, silver, mother-of-pearl, pearl or even iron, money has taken on various forms and different values throughout history. If it surprises by its diversity, it has always had only one goal: to allow commercial transactions. His other duties? Express the rank and wealth of an individual.

These “instruments of sociability and exchange” are thus highlighted by the Monnaie de Paris, offering within the exhibition an analysis of the relationship between man and money. In total, 200 pieces are presented to visitors, all from major museums, such as the Quai Branly museum, the Guimet museum, the Confluences museum in Lyon or the Mucem.

Or : 11 Quai Conti, 75006 Paris.

“Shirley Jaffe. An American in Paris” at the Center Pompidou

Born in 1923 in the Big Apple, Shirley Jaffe was quickly attracted to Paris where she settled permanently in 1949. Very close to Norman Bluhm, Jules Olitski, Sam Francis then Kimber Smith, she turned out to be a major painter of the new abstraction. . It was not until 1960 that she abandoned her expressionist trait to create new geometric, upset, random, chiseled forms.
The museum therefore presents a retrospective orchestrated by a very beautiful chronological display.
