In an intimate and elegant setting, taokan revisit the chinese cuisine classics by injecting a good dose of modernity and creativity. Installed on each bank of the capital, the place confirms its status as an institution and promises an exceptional culinary experience.

It's hard to do well in a city that has so many Chinese restaurants and yet... taokan did it! Indisputable reference of Chinese gastronomy, its two addresses are nestled in Saint-Germain des Prés and near Saint-Honoré. Neat, chic and uncluttered, the place prides itself on a elegant decoration which contrasts with the folk boui-bouis that we are used to seeing. Ebony tables, comfortable beige armchairs, soft lighting. Dive into this zen and cozy atmosphere, the Parisian hubbub seems far away. And it's more relaxed than ever that we're about to do this colorful culinary journey!

Traditional Chinese specialties revisited in contemporary creations

Having several open rooms on the kitchen, the configuration of the place allows us not to miss a single crumb of the nice show that the chefs offer us. It must be said that Christian Daine, at the head of Taokan, knows how to surround himself with the best. After living for years in Hong Kong, it was with the talented chef Au Tien-Dat, who notably cut his teeth at Madame Ly, that he reveals the extent of his knowledge. With its expertise and passion for far eastern culture, it is a real invitation to travel. On the map, we find the standards of Chinese gastronomy reworked with respect for tradition. All with the cutting edge of modernity and originality we need to be surprised by certain dishes that we already know.

A menu full of flavors, delicacy and promise

Served in pretty crockery, the excellence of Cantonese gastronomy thus expresses all its creativity. Lovers of good meats can enjoy beautiful pieces of duck, beef or chicken taken on teppan. When it comes to fish, the offer is just as tempting. Caramelized salmon, steamed sea bass fillet drizzled with herb soy sauce, miso-lacquered scallops. All fish fillets are here cut and pampered by the cooks on arrival. Giving pride of place to refinement and delicacy, the steamed Dim Sum – specialties of the house – compete for their inventiveness. Lobster, foie gras, scallops, Shanghai style pork, vegetarian version, these melting steamed ravioli as desired take on their full meaning here, when we know that “Dim Sum” translates to “touching the heart” in Cantonese.

Facing a appetizing assortment, the hardest part is choosing. That's good, the servers at Taokan are always good advice, carefully recommending the most appropriate agreements. To extend this high-flying dining experience, don't hesitate to look at the desserts which combine some classics (coconut pearls, sticky rice with fresh mango, fresh fruit) with less expected creations, such as green tea pancakes or chocolate spring rolls. A final touch that completes our gourmet getaway with brio.
