On Sunday July 28, L\u00e9on Marchand won gold in the 400 m 4-swim at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.\nIt was the first Olympic title of his young career. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

L\u00e9on Marchand<\/strong> has nothing left to prove…\nThe international press would even consider him a prodigy.\nOn July 28, he became Olympic champion for the first time<\/strong>.\nHe won the 400 m 4-swim<\/strong>, his favorite race, with an impressive margin over the competition and an Olympic record (4’02″95)<\/strong>.\nAlone in the world, the 22-year-old from Toulouse conquered his grail.\nDeeply concentrated, he took advantage of his first final in the pool at La D\u00e9fense Arena<\/a> to launch his quest for gold. <\/p>\n\n

Two-time world champion and world record-holder L\u00e9on Marchand flew through the race with flying colors!\nHe took almost 6 seconds off second-placed Tomoyuki Matsushita of Japan<\/strong>, in silver ahead of American Carson Foster<\/strong>.\nWith a spectacular lead from the first turn, he discouraged his rivals before extending his lead in the backstroke and breaststroke.\nDespite an attempt to improve on his own world record, he touched 4’02”95.\nThis marks his second-best time ever<\/strong> and a new Olympic record<\/strong>! <\/p>\n\n
