Legendary 1970s disco band the Village People, famous for their global hit “Y.M.C.A.”, will perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration festivities. A decision presented as a unifying gesture, but one that divides opinion. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Victor Willis, the band’s frontman, announced the news on his Facebook page, justifying the choice with a desire to transcend political divides: “We know this will make people unhappy, but we believe that music should live without political considerations.” He also expressed his hope that their song “Y.M.C.A.”, a true global anthem, would bring the country together after an election campaign marked by deep divisions.<\/p>\n\n
