After a brilliant career in front of the camera, the British actress is about to move behind it as a director. Her first project, <em>Goodbye June<\/em>, will be produced by <strong>Netflix<\/strong> and feature a prestigious cast including <strong>Helen Mirren, Toni Collette, Johnny Flynn and Timothy Spall<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n<p>The film will tell the story of a <strong>group of siblings reunited in difficult circumstances<\/strong>, in a tale that is both <strong>touching and humorous<\/strong>, according to Netflix. The screenplay is by Kate Winslet&#8217;s 21-year-old youngest son, <strong>Joe Anders<\/strong>, adding a family dimension to this directorial debut. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>A late vocation, but one I&#8217;ve accepted<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>Kate Winslet may be making her directorial debut, but her desire to direct is nothing new. As a guest on the <em>How to Fail<\/em> podcast last September, she confided that <strong>several colleagues had suggested that she move into directing<\/strong>, but that she was still hesitating. <\/p>\n\n<p>She explained that she felt <strong>an urgency to grab the camera<\/strong>, not least to inspire other women in the film industry. She declared, <em>&#8220;The more of us that do it, the more we&#8217;ll inspire others.&#8221;<\/em> However, she insisted on the importance of doing things right: <em>&#8220;I&#8217;ll never do anything if I don&#8217;t really know how to do it right.&#8221;<\/em> <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>Shooting imminent in the UK<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>Kate Winslet is not only directing <em>Goodbye June<\/em>, she will also be <strong>co-producing<\/strong>, alongside <strong>Kate Solomon<\/strong>, with whom she previously collaborated on <em>Lee<\/em>, a biopic about war photographer <strong>Lee Miller<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>The film is due to <strong>start<\/strong> shooting <strong>soon in the UK<\/strong>, marking a new stage in the actress&#8217;s career.
