An ICC decision with far-reaching diplomatic consequences<\/h2>\n\n

A specialist in international law, Amal Clooney was called in by the International Criminal Court (ICC)<\/strong> in May 2024 to analyze the admissibility of war crimes<\/strong> charges against the Israeli Prime Minister and Yoav Gallant<\/strong>, former Minister of Defense. The panel of experts on which she sits rules in favor of the arrest warrant. This decision was publicly justified by the lawyer, who declared: ” I will never accept that the life of one child is less valuable than that of another.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n

But the political response was swift.<\/p>\n\n

Trump strikes back with executive order: visas cancelled and property seized<\/h2>\n\n

In February 2025, Donald Trump<\/strong> signed Executive Order 14203<\/strong>, aimed directly at ICC collaborators. It orders the seizure of<\/strong> real estate and the revocation of visas<\/strong> for all “ICC officials and their families”. Officially, the decree denounces illegitimate interference, since neither the USA nor Israel recognizes the Rome Statute<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

While only the prosecutor Karim Khan<\/strong> is explicitly named, several diplomatic sources – including the Financial<\/em> Times – indicate that other experts, including Amal Clooney, would also be targeted<\/strong>. She would therefore risk losing access to her Manhattan penthouse<\/strong> and her Los Angeles villa<\/strong>, purchased for $2.2 million<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n
