It’s possible to tan without UV. Long shunned for their orangey tint, facial self-tanners are making a comeback in a clean, sensorial, made-to-measure version. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Self-tanners are much better now<\/h2>\n\n

The story begins in the 1920s<\/em>, with Procter & Gamble’s discovery of the coloring effects of dihydroxyacetone (DHA)<\/strong>, a molecule derived from sugarcane. Although initial tests produced only approximate results (hello carrot complexion), it wasn’t until the 1980s<\/em> that the product established itself as a credible alternative to sun tanning. <\/p>\n\n

Today, formulas have gained in subtlety and textures blend perfectly into skincare routines, thanks in particular to active ingredients such as erythrulose<\/strong>, a sweet sugar extracted from red berries, which gradually colors the skin.<\/p>\n\n
