A belated but essential tribute. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Overlooking a Bavarian valley at an altitude of almost 200 meters, <strong>Neuschwanstein Castle<\/strong> has finally joined <strong>UNESCO&#8217;s<\/strong> prestigious <strong>World Heritage List<\/strong>. If its name sounds complicated to pronounce ([n\u0254\u028f\u02c8\u0283va\u02d0n\u0283ta\u026an]), its Gothic lines, blue roofs and tall towers are familiar to all, if only through <strong>Walt Disney<\/strong> adaptations. <\/p>\n\n<p>Every year, <strong>1.4 million visitors<\/strong> flock to the castle, particularly in summer, when the number soars to over 6,000 a day. The castle is reminiscent of <strong>Sleeping Beauty<\/strong>, <strong>Cinderella<\/strong> and <strong>Snow White<\/strong>, all works whose fairytale aesthetics are directly inspired by Neuschwanstein. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">A magical place&#8230; with a tragic destiny<\/h2>\n\n<p>Built from <em>1868<\/em> onwards at the instigation of King <strong>Ludwig II of Bavaria<\/strong>, the ch\u00e2teau was never completed during his lifetime. The monarch, passionate about art and the figure of <strong>Louis XIV<\/strong>, devoted fortunes to his palaces, until he found himself isolated, ruined and marginalized by his entourage. His fascination with <strong>rococo<\/strong>, visible in the golds of Linderhof and Herrenchiemsee, led to a reclusive life, with no descendants and no real recognition during his lifetime.  <\/p>\n\n<p>And yet, his majestic work spans the centuries. And it is this <strong>dreamlike dimension<\/strong> combined with a strong human story that justifies its classification today. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">A fragile site to be preserved<\/h2>\n\n<p>UNESCO listing is not just a tribute. It is also a <strong>necessary protection<\/strong>, in the face of intense visitor numbers, a harsh <strong>Alpine climate<\/strong>, and the fragility of the <strong>decorative materials<\/strong> used. The Bavarian palace administration has submitted a detailed dossier, including management plans, geological studies and scientific justifications, in order to meet the requirements for &#8220;outstanding universal value&#8221; status.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">From Bavaria to Disneyland Paris<\/h2>\n\n<p>The <strong>shapes of Neuschwanstein<\/strong> can also be found in Disney parks, notably Disneyland Paris, just a few minutes from the capital.
