Technology is advancing fast on commercial vehicles. Mercedes now offers a ” transparent hood<\/g> ” which displays what’s happening just in front of the bumper. The idea is reassuring for professionals in town and on building sites. <\/p>\n

Transparent hood: Mercedes’ commitment to safety in town and on building sites<\/h2>\n

The principle is simple, and effective. The system reconstructs an “under-the-hood” view from the 360\u00b0<\/g> cameras. As a result, the central screen shows the edges<\/g>, blocks and paddles that usually disappear under the front. All this comes via Mercedes’ Parking Pack<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

When manoeuvring, avoid the corner of a pallet<\/a> or a bollard. What’s more, the right-hand front wheel can be positioned with millimetre precision along a platform. However, this function is particularly useful at low speeds to keep a clear reference point.<\/p>\n

The display is controlled via the MBUX interface. Also, an orange grid materializes the trajectory when steering. The rendering is no gimmick: the images help you decide quickly in a tight space. <\/p>\n

Since 2024 in Europe, GSR2<\/strong> regulations<\/a> requireISA<\/strong>. This speed limit<\/strong> reminder monitors signs and maps, then alerts you if you exceed the speed limit. For many, the beeper is useful, but intrusive. As a result, at Mercedes, the alert can be switched off for the journey, but comes back on when the vehicle is restarted.<\/p>\n
