The H\u00f4tel Litt\u00e9raire Le Swann<\/a> dedicates its autumn season to Marcel Proust, with a double exhibition and four new literary events.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Located in the heart of the 8\u1d49 arrondissement,H\u00f4tel Litt\u00e9raire Le Swann<\/strong> pays tribute to the author of\u00c0 la recherche du temps perdu<\/em> with two complementary exhibitions. An opportunity to (re)discover Proust not only as a writer, but also as an epistolier, a man of the world and an ever-influential figure for contemporary creation. By bringing together rare manuscripts and giving the floor to specialists, the hotel becomes, for the duration of an autumn, a Proustian house where letters, memories and artistic resonances dialogue with elegance. <\/p>\n\n

From October 9 to November 21, 2025<\/em>, the hotel’s showcases will unveil an exceptional selection of autograph letters, most of them previously unpublished. These manuscripts, assembled by Jacques Letertre<\/strong>, president of the Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 des H\u00f4tels Litt\u00e9raires, cover the period from 1886, when Proust was just fourteen, to 1921. <\/p>\n\n

These missives, addressed to a gallery of recipients ranging from critic Jean-Louis Vaudoyer to playwright Henry Bernstein, not forgetting the Countess de Chevign\u00e9 and the sultry Albert Le Cuziat, reveal a Proust who was by turns intimate, worldly, ironic and career-minded. We come across confidences about his stock market woes, reflections on Paul Val\u00e9ry, the genesis of Du c\u00f4t\u00e9 de chez Swann<\/g>, and an official application for the L\u00e9gion d’honneur. A separate display case presents a treasure trove: the only complete copy of Lundi<\/em>, the 1887-1888 high-school magazine in which his very first publications appeared. <\/p>\n\n
