R\u00e9publique station is about to undergo a major transformation. This central hub of the Paris metro<\/strong>, frequented by thousands of passengers every day, will be undergoing construction work fromsummer 2026<\/a>. And this situation will last much longer than expected. <\/p>\n

A colossal project to build the R\u00e9publique metro until 2034<\/h2>\n

Paris network users will have to be patient. R\u00e9publique station will be under construction from summer 2026 to 2034<\/strong>. This means 8 years of construction work<\/strong> ahead for local residents and commuters<\/a> alike. <\/p>\n

RATP has decided to proceed line by line<\/a>. As a result, each closure will last between 13 and 24 months<\/strong>, according to the latest information. This method means that part of the station will remain accessible, even if there will be many disruptions. <\/p>\n

For those who live in the area, it’s best to plan ahead. From now on, it’s a matter of urgency to find alternative routes on the map of the capital<\/a>. <\/p>\n

“The R\u00e9publique stop will not be served from 22\/07\/26 to 22\/04\/27, but only on metro line 8. The line will run normally, but trains will not stop at this station during the entire construction period.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Why is such a renovation so urgent?<\/h3>\n

R\u00e9publique station is home to 5 metro lines<\/strong>: 3, 5, 8, 9 and 11. Every day, no fewer than 250,000 passengers<\/strong> board, alight or transit the station. This massive ridership has a direct impact on the condition of the underground station. <\/p>\n

What’s more, since the redevelopment of Place R\u00e9publique in 2013<\/strong>, the station has been suffering from serious seepage problems. The water is weakening the infrastructure, posing safety problems. The extension of line 11 has also amplified the influx of passengers. <\/p>\n

    Line 9<\/strong> will then take over between 2028 and 2029<\/strong>. This will be followed by line 5<\/strong>, from 2029 to 2030<\/strong>. Work on line 11<\/strong> will extend from 2031 to 2032<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

    Finally, line 3<\/strong> will bring this marathon to a close between 2033 and 2034<\/strong>. During these phases, trains will continue to run normally on each line. However, they will not stop at R\u00e9publique station. <\/p>\n

    What this means for day-to-day travellers<\/h3>\n

    In concrete terms, users will have to adapt their journeys according to the line affected. For example, from summer 2026, those taking line 8 will have to get off at a nearby station. They will then be able to reach R\u00e9publique on foot or via a transfer. <\/p>\n

    This phased organization offers a significant advantage. In fact, the station will never be completely closed during these 8 years. The other four lines will remain accessible during each construction phase. <\/p>\n

    An investment in user comfort and safety<\/h2>\n

    Despite the inconvenience, this renovation project meets a number of major challenges. First and foremost, RATP wants to rehabilitate the infrastructure, which has been weakened by water. Seepage is a risk that can no longer be ignored. <\/p>\n
