Swimming in the Seine: the return of free bathing areas<\/h2>\n

It’s now a well-established summer habit<\/a> in Paris: swimming directly in the Seine. Several temporary bathing areas are completely free<\/strong>, safe and supervised by lifeguards. So there’s no need to pay to cool off in the heart of the capital. <\/p>\n

Among this season’s new additions is a spot on the Pont Louis-Philippe (4th)<\/strong>, ideal after a stroll through the Marais district. In addition, a swimming area has been set up near the Jardins Tino-Rossi (5th)<\/strong>, with a breathtaking view of<\/a> the \u00cele Saint-Louis. <\/p>\n

The bras de Grenelle (15th)<\/strong> and Quai de Bercy (12th)<\/strong> are also available to complete the offer. So, whatever your address, there’s likely to be a spot of fresh water just a metro ride away. Paris Plages 2026<\/a><\/strong> runs from July 4 to August 30<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Open daily from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.<\/strong> at 30-32, rue du Sentier (2e)<\/strong>, it welcomed its first bathers in early June<\/strong>. It’s the perfect place to sip a cocktail with your feet in the water. <\/p>\n

On the other hand, if you’re looking for a more grandiose setting, the Molitor pool<\/strong> at 2, avenue de la Porte Molitor (16th arrondissement)<\/strong> offers a top-of-the-range experience. Open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.<\/strong>, and at weekends from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.<\/strong> It’s certainly the most expensive swimming pool in Paris, but the location is simply magnificent. <\/p>\n

Municipal open-air pools: our picks for swimming in Paris<\/h2>\n

The Roger Le Gall swimming pool<\/strong>, at 34, boulevard Carnot (12e)<\/strong>, is our real summer favorite. Its large 50-meter pool<\/strong> and sunbathing areas under the trees give you the impression of swimming in the countryside. Open from Monday to Sunday, it’s the ideal spot to forget the Parisian asphalt. <\/p>\n

Also popular with regulars, the Josephine Baker pool<\/strong> on Quai Fran\u00e7ois Mauriac (13th arrondissement)<\/strong> offers the illusion of swimming in the Seine thanks to its infinity pool. From Monday to Sunday, you can swim laps and soak up the sun in an original setting. <\/p>\n

The Auteuil pool<\/strong>, at 1, route des Lacs in Passy (16th)<\/strong>, opens on Wednesday, May 27, 2026<\/strong>. Its solarium in the middle of nature and its partially openable roof make it one of the capital’s most relaxed addresses. What better way to unwind after a busy week? <\/p>\n
