Paris in July 2026<\/strong> promises an extraordinary summer season, supported by a dense and varied calendar of events. From Franco-American celebrations to major concerts, exhibitions and high-level sport, the capital<\/a> has something for every visitor. <\/p>\n

250 years of Franco-American friendship: the star event of the summer<\/h2>\n

July 4, 2026<\/strong> marks the 250th anniversary of American Independence<\/strong>, the culmination of a year of commemorations under the “AMERICA 250” banner. The anniversary kicks off Paris Plages<\/strong>, with sporting, musical and gastronomic events on the banks of the Seine<\/a> and at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. <\/p>\n

On the H\u00f4tel de Ville square, a beach volleyball court hosts tournaments and introductions, a festive nod to American culture. In addition, swimming<\/a> in the Seine and other Parisian sites makes for a lively summer for all. <\/p>\n

On the museum front, the Palais Galliera celebrates American fashion with a major exhibition. In addition, the Petit Palais plans to open its galleries<\/a> to artists and designers from the U.S., and the Carnavalet museum is offering exhibitions linked to this shared history. <\/p>\n

Franco-American memorial sites to visit<\/h3>\n

If you’d like to learn more about this historic link, there are several Parisian addresses worth a visit. Picpus Cemetery, in the 12th arrondissement<\/strong>, is home to the tomb of La Fayette, over which an American flag is permanently flown. <\/p>\n

In the 16th arrondissement<\/strong>, you’ll find Benjamin Franklin’s home in the Passy district, George Washington’s equestrian statue on Place d’I\u00e9na, Place des \u00c9tats-Unis and Place Rochambeau. And the legendary Caf\u00e9 Procope<\/strong>, in the 6th arrondissement, remains one of Paris’s oldest caf\u00e9-restaurants, once frequented by Benjamin Franklin himself. <\/p>\n
