The first thing you notice is the smell. Not that slightly greasy smell from the stovetops we know all too well, but the smell of a real grill, when the meat catches fire. At Manhattn’s, it’s the little details that say it all. <\/p>\n\n

A burger crafted like a gourmet dish<\/h2>\n\n

Here, we treat the burger as a meal in its own right, not just a loss leader. The beef is grass-fed Irish Angus, flame-grilled\u2014and definitely not flattened on a griddle. The result on the plate: meat that stays juicy, a genuine grilled flavor, and a brioche bun baked that very day that holds up without falling apart on the second bite. The fries are right up there too\u2014fresh, double-fried\u2014and the sauces are homemade. There\u2019s nothing magical about it; it\u2019s just things done right, which feels almost like a luxury when you consider the average quality of takeout burgers. <\/p>\n\n

As for drinks, it\u2019s the same philosophy: homemade lemonades and iced teas, milkshakes, and a few craft beers. You can tell that no one tried to pad the menu just to make it look good. <\/p>\n\n

Except that here, someone actually talks to you, checks in to see if everything\u2019s okay, and says a quick hello as you leave. Allow 45 minutes to eat at a leisurely pace. Fast enough for a lunch break, but relaxed enough that you don\u2019t have to wolf down your burger standing up. <\/p>\n\n

A story that began on the streets of Manhattan<\/h2>\n\n

Behind the concept are two brothers and a true story. In 2011, J\u00e9r\u00f4me Vandermeulen set out to sell waffles on the streets of Manhattan. He stayed there for two years, long enough to get a feel for the city\u2019s rhythm and its no-frills approach to food. Back in Europe, he brought his brother Philippe\u2014who had worked in kitchens\u2014on board, and together they launched a brand that aims to capture that New York spirit without overdoing it. The concept caught on, grew, and eventually, quite naturally, made its home in Paris. <\/p>\n\n

Two locations, two vibrant neighborhoods<\/h2>\n\n

In Paris, there are two locations for now. One is at 13 Rue du Renard, in the 4th arrondissement, just a stone\u2019s throw from Beaubourg. The other is at 59 Rue Montorgueil, right in the heart of the 2nd arrondissement, on a street that never really sleeps. Both are vibrant neighborhoods, which fits the brand quite well. <\/p>\n\n

Is it worth the trip? Let’s just say that if you’re looking for a decent, well-cooked burger\u2014no frills and without overwhelming your taste buds with ten unnecessary sauces\u2014you now know where to go. And these days, that’s worth noting. <\/p>\n\n
