Yet the French capital has 8<\/strong> marked Grandes Randonn\u00e9es (GR) trails<\/strong> and 75 green spaces<\/strong> that are crossed by some of these routes. It\u2019s the perfect excuse to lace up your sneakers and see the city in a whole new light<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The GR 75, a trail created for the Olympic Games<\/h2>\n

Inaugurated in 2017 to support Paris\u2019s bid for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the GR 75<\/strong> offers a 50-km<\/strong> loop that runs entirely through Paris<\/a><\/strong>. The route passes through nine arrondissements<\/strong> and crosses no fewer than 75 green spaces<\/strong> between the P\u00e9riph\u00e9rique and the Boulevards des Mar\u00e9chaux. <\/p>\n

The route is also a journey through Paris\u2019s sporting history. The Bois de Vincennes hosted the cricket matches of the first Paris Olympic Games in 1900<\/strong>. Later, the Tourelles Aquatic Stadium\u2014now the Georges Vallerey Swimming Pool<\/a> in the 20th arrondissement\u2014saw Johnny Weissmuller<\/strong> become the first swimmer to complete the 100-meter race in under a minute in 1924. <\/p>\n
