For his autumn-winter 2026 collection, Christian Wijnants<\/strong> takes inspiration from Japanese zen gardens, known as karesansui<\/strong>. Titled “Lines of Serenity”<\/strong>, the collection translates the raked patterns, curved compositions and muted tones of these dry gardens into sculptural silhouettes. A restrained palette<\/a> and carefully chosen materials tell a story of calm and precision.<\/p>\n

Silhouettes inspired by the monk gardeners<\/h2>\n

The outerwear pieces make direct reference to the monks who tend zen gardens. Several key looks are designed without collars or lapels<\/strong>, creating silhouettes that evoke monk’s robes. This formal choice gives the collection an aesthetic that is at once understated<\/a> and commanding.<\/p>\n

Waists are defined, paired with oversized, enveloping shoulders and sleeves. The moss-green “Cumba”<\/strong> coat captures this approach well: it wraps around the body while asserting a clear structure<\/a>. Outerwear pieces also incorporate forest-green faux fur<\/strong> from German manufacturer Steiff<\/strong>, renowned for its iconic plush fabrics.<\/p>\n

The collection’s prints were developed in collaboration with French photographer Quentin Chamard-Bois<\/strong>. They draw on his photographs of abandoned landscape artworks, reworked to create abstract wind-swept forests.
