Imagine lifting the rear bonnet of a Porsche 911 and finding, engraved on a badge, the name Louis Vuitton<\/a><\/strong>. That is exactly what Singer Vehicle Design unveiled at Monterey Car Week<\/a>, with two cars that have left no one indifferent.<\/p>\n

Singer, a restorer turned global reference<\/h2>\n

Since the late 2000s, Singer Vehicle Design has been transforming vintage Porsche 911s into objects of desire<\/a>. The American specialist has established itself as a fully-fledged player in the market, with builds often invoiced at several hundred thousand euros<\/strong>. Its client base is loyal, and its approach has inspired countless other companies.<\/p>\n

Indeed, if we now see so many restomods built on Lancia, Jaguar, Lamborghini, Ferrari<\/a> and Honda platforms, it is largely thanks to Singer’s success. The company blazed a trail that many others have since followed.<\/p>\n

Two Porsche 911s dressed by Louis Vuitton<\/h2>\n

For Monterey Car Week, Singer presented two entirely new creations. On one side, a Singer Classic<\/strong>, almost certainly built on a Porsche 964 platform. On the other, a Singer Turbo Cabriolet<\/strong>. Both models retain the powertrains and chassis Singer already offers its clients. What changes here is the finish, executed entirely in partnership with the French house.<\/p>\n

The Classic coup\u00e9 receives an interior fully upholstered in leathers and materials crafted by the maroquinier. Every surface, every detail of the cabin bears the signature of the collaboration. A Louis Vuitton<\/strong> surfboard also accompanies the coup\u00e9, adding an even more unexpected touch to the whole.<\/p>\n

The cabriolet goes even further in displaying the partnership. Its bodywork adopts colours and exterior finishes drawn directly from the French house’s visual codes. Its rear light bar even incorporates the partner’s name. Both cars share a common badge on the rear bonnet lid.<\/p>\n

    A proposition that divides<\/h2>\n

    The question this collaboration raises is a direct one: is this an exercise in questionable taste, or a coherent offering for enthusiasts who see in the combination of a vintage Porsche and Louis Vuitton<\/strong> a natural meeting of two luxury worlds? Opinions differ, and that is precisely what makes these two cars so talked about.<\/p>\n

    Singer has not altered the mechanics of either car. The powertrains and chassis remain those of the already familiar Classic and Turbo versions. This partnership therefore expresses itself solely through finish and image. For some collectors, pairing a prepared 911 with the artisanal rigour of the French maroquinier is an entirely coherent proposition.
