Twelve pieces, a carefully chosen colour palette and a shared vision of urban summer life: that is the result of the collaboration between Zalando<\/strong> and Danish brand Sams\u00f8e Sams\u00f8e, who have joined forces to create the unisex capsule collection “Summer in the City”<\/strong>. Available exclusively on the online platform across all its markets, the collection is aimed at those who live city life<\/a> to the fullest, from morning through to warm evenings.<\/p>\n

A wardrobe built for long days in the city<\/h2>\n

Marley Roosen, women’s design director at Sams\u00f8e Sams\u00f8e, sums up the intention behind the project well: to create a simple, versatile wardrobe<\/a> that can adapt to different moments of the day without ever feeling overdressed. The inspiration comes directly from Scandinavia, where summers naturally push life outdoors and days stretch well into the evening.<\/p>\n

In practice, this translates into pieces designed to work just as well by day as by night. Oversized grey marl blazers with wide shoulders<\/strong> can be paired with matching shorts or mini skirts for an effortless complete look. Sweatshirt-style cardigans with contrasting striped sleeves bring a sportswear edge<\/a>, while wide-leg cargo trousers with adjustable drawstrings prioritise comfort and practicality.<\/p>\n

Further pieces round out the lineup: checked shirts, vintage-inspired T-shirts<\/a> adorned with embroidered logos, and jeans with worn-in detailing. Each piece reflects what the Danish brand calls Scandinavian tailoring blended with a street style aesthetic.<\/p>\n

A colour palette that balances depth and summer lightness<\/h2>\n

The colour choices play a central role in the collection’s cohesion. The platform and Sams\u00f8e Sams\u00f8e opted for a mix of tones that pairs deep shades with brighter, more summery hues. The result is a palette spanning Delicioso Brown<\/strong>, Windsurfer Light Blue<\/strong>, Haute Red<\/strong>, Grey Melange<\/strong> and Clear Cream<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This palette makes it easy to mix and match pieces. A grey marl blazer pairs naturally with cargo trousers or a mini skirt, and the earthy tones complement the brighter summer shades to create varied looks from a limited number of pieces.<\/p>\n

    Copenhagen as backdrop, Gothenburg as stage<\/h2>\n

    To accompany the launch, the visual campaign was shot directly on the streets of Copenhagen. The aim was to capture the daily routines and summer rituals of Nordic urban life, giving the collection an authentic grounding that stays true to its inspiration.<\/p>\n

    Beyond the imagery, Zalando<\/strong> chose to meet its audience in person at the Way Out West festival in Gothenburg, Sweden. For the second consecutive year, the platform is setting up “The Corner”, a physical space located at Slottsskogen across the three days of the event.<\/p>\n

    The space hosts a range of programming. Live performances are on the bill, including a set from artist Jalda. Round tables and interviews bring together Swedish artist Daniela Rathana and emerging talent Killen. A dedicated hub also offers surprise DJ sets, retro games and a curated library.<\/p>\n

    Sebastian Becker, general manager for the Nordic countries at the platform, underlines that this kind of activation is fully in line with the brand’s strategy: launching exclusive capsule collections with well-regarded Nordic partners, and creating spaces where fashion, city life and festival culture come together naturally.
