The auction of the Bellefontaine estate, scheduled for November, is stirring equal measures of excitement and anxiety among prospective buyers.<\/p>\n

A 9-hectare estate the city is selling after 80 years of ownership<\/h2>\n

Located in Samois-sur-Seine, one and a half kilometres from Fontainebleau station<\/strong>, the Ch\u00e2teau de Bellefontaine is a 19th-century construction. The City of Paris<\/a><\/strong> acquired it in 1942<\/strong>, with the intention of using it as a holiday camp for children. For decades, the site fulfilled that purpose before gradually falling into obscurity.<\/p>\n

For thirty years<\/strong>, the building has been left to decay. Several restoration projects<\/a> were launched, but none came to fruition. The city has now decided to take a definitive step by putting the property up for sale. A lawyer present during the visit raised questions about which parts of the building could potentially be demolished, questions that reveal the complexity of such a purchase, where architectural and regulatory constraints weigh heavily on any decision to bid.<\/p>\n

Tensions also ran high over technical matters. A visitor in checked bermuda shorts, his hair tied back in a ponytail, challenged the representatives of the City of Paris<\/strong> and Agorastore sharply over the absence of a pest survey. He raised the risk of dry rot, a fungus that can devastate timber structures, and threatened legal action for concealed defects after the sale. Faced with the confrontation, Elisa Guinard and Benoit Koscik called for calm.<\/p>\n
