It’s worth knowing the details before getting behind the wheel.<\/p>\n

What Le\u00f3n XIV’s papamobile route means for drivers<\/h2>\n

The papamobile procession between Notre-Dame-des-Champs<\/a><\/strong> and place Saint-Michel<\/strong> is the stretch generating the widest and longest disruptions. From 6am until 8pm<\/strong>, traffic will be prohibited across the entire security perimeter set up along this route. In practice, several major arteries on the Left Bank will be off-limits to vehicles for fourteen consecutive hours.<\/p>\n

The affected roads include boulevard du Montparnasse<\/strong>, avenue de l’Observatoire<\/strong>, boulevard Saint-Michel<\/a><\/strong>, place Saint-Michel<\/strong> and boulevard du Palais<\/strong>. These are key transit routes through the 5th and 6th arrondissements. On top of that, a reinforced security perimeter will be active from 10am to 8pm<\/strong>, tightening movement in the area even further.<\/p>\n

Around UNESCO and Les Invalides, restrictions in two waves<\/h2>\n

In the 7th arrondissement<\/strong>, the Pope’s visit to Paris brings a separate set of measures, rolled out in two successive waves. The first applies from 1pm to 6pm<\/strong> and covers a wide perimeter around UNESCO. Several roads will be closed to all motorised vehicles during this window.<\/p>\n

  • Rue Jos\u00e9-Maria-de-Heredia, rue P\u00e9rignon, rue Albert-de-Lapparent and rue L\u00e9on-Vaudoyer<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    In the 15th arrondissement<\/strong>, several streets bordering the 7th are also closed from 1pm to 6pm: rue Bouchut, rue C\u00e9sar-Franck, rue Valentin-Ha\u00fcy, rue Bellart, rue Rosa-Bonheur and rue Barth\u00e9l\u00e9my. These closures are a direct result of their proximity to the security cordon deployed around UNESCO.<\/p>\n

    The second wave concerns the area around Les Invalides<\/strong> and runs from 2:30pm to 4:30pm<\/strong>. This tighter perimeter includes boulevard des Invalides<\/strong>, avenue de Tourville<\/strong>, place Vauban<\/strong>, avenue de Villars<\/strong>, avenue de Breteuil<\/strong> and rue de S\u00e8vres<\/strong> between rue Rousselet and rue Maurice-de-la-Sizeranne. Additional streets, rue Bixio, rue Ebl\u00e9, rue Oudinot, rue Duroc, avenue Constant-Coquelin and avenue Daniel-Lesueur, round out the device.<\/p>\n

    Parking banned from Thursday evening in the 7th<\/h2>\n

    For the areas around UNESCO and Les Invalides, there are two parking ban windows to keep in mind. First, from Thursday 24 September at 11am<\/strong> to Friday 25 September at 4:30pm<\/strong>, parking will be prohibited on boulevard des Invalides, avenue de Tourville, place Vauban, avenue de S\u00e9gur, avenue de Villars, avenue de Breteuil, rue d’Estr\u00e9es, place du Pr\u00e9sident-Mithouard, avenue de Lowendal and rue Bixio, on the sections covered by the security plan.<\/p>\n
