We rarely associate a science museum with artistic creation. And yet, the Mus\u00e9um national d’Histoire naturelle has maintained a deep connection with artists since its very beginnings. Some of them worked directly alongside researchers, joining expeditions<\/a> to the far corners of the world in order to bring back precise visual records. Their drawings and illustrated plates were, at the time, the only means of circulating knowledge, long before modern technologies existed.<\/p>\n

Other artists produced rigorous scientific imagery: botanical plates<\/a>, zoological drawings, anthropological representations and landscapes.
