Aya Nakamura becomes a producer: a label, an artist, a vision

It’s only a short step from global pop star to musical entrepreneur. And Aya Nakamura has taken it with confidence by launching her own independent label, a major turning point that confirms her quest for autonomy and her desire to pass on her talent.
From Djadja to DNK: asserting independence
At just 29 years of age, Aya Nakamura has established herself as a pivotal figure on the French-speaking music scene. From the irresistible “Djadja” in 2018 to her recent acclaimed performance at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, her career path has defied all the odds. Adored by her fanbase but long shunned by some traditional media, she never ceases to demonstrate that success can be built off the beaten track.
His departure from the Rec. 118 label (Warner Music) to create his own structure marks a new stage in his career, both strategic and symbolic. This label (whose name remains a secret for the time being) is intended as a space for free expression, a springboard for emerging artists who are often overlooked.
RNBOI, the first bet
The first artist to join this adventure is none other than RNBOI, a young singer from Nemours with a hybrid style, between melodic rap, assertive autotune and moody R’n’B. Spotted as part of the DVM Show (the talent contest launched by Aya herself), he quickly won the producer over with his singularity and out-of-format potential.
With over 800,000 monthly listeners on Spotify and already collaborations with Tiakola, Kerchak and Monsieur Nov, RNBOI is far from unknown. But what Aya Nakamura wants to do is offer a new framework to this generation, freed from labels and eager for creative freedom.
By becoming a producer, Aya Nakamura is not seeking to reproduce her success, but to redistribute its keys. She goes from icon to patron of the arts, from hitmaker to voice promoter. And therein lies perhaps her greatest victory: in her ability to transform light into relay.
