This Italian address near the Louvre has Paris on the edge of its seat

A Roman restaurant a stone’s throw from the Louvre? Yes, and it’s already one of the most popular restaurants in central Paris. and his name is Pizi!

Pizi: Italy in the heart of Paris

Following the success of Zapi, their first Italian address with a retro-chic feel, Nicolas Saltiel and César Gourdou have scored another master stroke with Pizi, located at 58 rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau in the 1st arrondissement. Just a stone’s throw from the Louvre, this Italian restaurant offers a gustatory journey to the heart of Rome, in a friendly, colorful atmosphere inspired by the trattorias of yesteryear.

From the moment you walk in, the décor is seductive: hand-painted tiles, acidic tablecloths, plush banquettes, and a coppery pizza oven sitting proudly opposite the tables. The two dining rooms, bathed in warm tones ranging from orange to green, are as warm as they are inviting.

Roman pizza the old-fashioned way

But at Pizi, Italy is best expressed on the plate. In the kitchen, chef Martin Gomez-Léal and pizzaiolo Fabio Marcia revisit the classics with exacting standards. The pizza dough is prepared by hand, left to rest for 21 hours, then baked at a low temperature (300°C) for a perfectly controlled crispness.

Don’t miss the Norma pizza, star of the house, or the spaghetti with truffles, homemade and served with an addictive creamy sauce. For starters, the 300g burrata accompanied by homemade focaccia is a real crowd-pleaser. And for a sweet finish, mascarpone tiramisù or fresh fruit panna cotta complete this tour of Italy to be savored with eyes closed.

An address to enjoy… and take away

Before leaving, a detour to the restaurant’s delicatessen shelves is a must: olive oil, homemade pasta and other Italian products await you to prolong the experience at home.
