Zara turns 50: the visual tribute that shakes up the codes
A birthday in black and white. A cult song. And 50 icons staring you right in the face. For its 50th anniversary, Zara isn’t looking back. She’s reinventing memory.
An extraordinary cast for a declaration of love to fashion
On May 9, 2025, Zara unveils an auteur film by Steven Meisel, directed on the initiative of Marta Ortega Pérez. To the soundtrack of Donna Summer‘s “I Feel Love”, 50 legendary models embody five decades of creation, freedom and metamorphosis.
From Naomi Campbell to Linda Evangelista, Twiggy to Paloma Elsesser, this visual manifesto blurs the boundaries between era and emotion. Every look captured is a love letter to fashion, every gesture a fragment of collective memory.
Pat McGrath, Guido Palau, Karl Templer: the holy trinity of style
To bring this work to life, Meisel is joined by three major industry figures: Pat McGrath for make-up, Guido Palau for hair, and Karl Templer for styling.
The result: timeless black and white, built around the tuxedo, a symbol of power and aesthetic neutrality. A tribute to pure elegance, between diverted masculinity and sublimated femininity.
Zara, a story of transmission and reinvention
This project celebrates not a brand, but a philosophy of clothing. Since 1975, Zara has built an accessible, cross-disciplinary vision of fashion. This film embodies this universal language, where generations talk to each other, cross paths and inspire each other.
As Marta Ortega Pérez sums up: “Creativity is the heart of Zara”. And this work proves it with every shot.
