Domaine de la Bretesche, the 5-star refuge

Located in the Pays de Loire region of France, Domaine de la Bretesche cultivates the art of discreet luxury. In a 200-hectare park, a Renaissance château, a legendary golf course, a soothing spa and meticulous design coexist in perfect harmony. A confidential place, with bucolic charm, where one comes to recharge one’s batteries far from the hustle and bustle.

Heritage, design and nature: the perfect balance

From the moment you enter, the impression is striking: wrought-iron gates, wooded alleys, a water mirror, and this Renaissance château with its almost unreal allure. But there’s no folklore here. The estate, owned by B Signature Hotels & Resorts, has been given a contemporary makeover by Stéphanie Decurey. The architect-decorator has infused the 25 rooms and suites with a subtle elegance, combining restored period woodwork, Dedar textiles, Ligne Roset furniture and discreet touches of modernity.

The rooms play the chic boudoir card, the duplex villas in the former sheepfold are seductive in their independence, and the 13 cottages in the heart of the park offer total immersion in nature. All have direct access to the estate’s tennis, jogging, spa and, of course, golf facilities.

Filipe Silvestre, the chef who shakes up the classics

Trained in the finest Michelin-starred establishments (Loiseau des Vignes, Les Pêcheurs…), Filipe Silvestre heads up the kitchens of the gastronomic restaurant Le Montaigu and the brasserie Le Club. At Le Montaigu, dishes are an exploration of the Breton terroir, nurtured by the hotel’s permaculture vegetable garden. Inspired menus such as La Côte en Héritage, featuring mature seafood, root vegetables and reduced juices, are served facing the château, in a cathedral-ceilinged room magnified by mirrors and a Catellani & Smith gold-leaf suspension.

At brasserie Le Club, the style is more relaxed but just as demanding: brazier-grilled meats, comforting dishes and a precise selection of wines, all served in a space that blends Tom Dixon design and graphic carpeting inspired by the estate’s coat of arms.

Golf, an exceptional course

Ranked as one of the most beautiful golf courses in France, the 18-hole Domaine de la Bretesche course is a jewel nestled in an unspoilt natural setting. With its ponds, ancient trees and breathtaking views of the château, each hole is a living tableau! Technically demanding without being intimidating, it appeals to amateurs and seasoned golfers alike. The course is maintained according to ecologically responsible principles: rational watering, selective sanding and sustainable turf management. The elegant, friendly clubhouse completes the experience with every comfort.

A holistic spa between stone and nature

The 400 m² Cinq Mondes & Omnisens spa is a veritable sanctuary of well-being. It offers an extensive menu of body and facial treatments, sensory rituals and solo or duo massages. A heated indoor swimming pool, lined with Burgundy stone and open to the outdoors, invites you to take a break for deep relaxation. The hammam, sauna and sensory showers extend the experience.

In summer, the Chalet du Potager, set in the heart of the garden, offers a unique bucolic setting in which to enjoy a treatment surrounded by flowers and aromatic plants.

A peaceful outdoor pool

In addition to the spa, the estate offers a large heated outdoor swimming pool, open in fine weather. Set in verdant surroundings, it offers a soothing view of the trees and château. With deckchairs, parasols and refreshment service, it’s the perfect place for a lazy afternoon or a relaxing family moment.

A confidential destination for weekends and events

Just 2 hours by TGV from Paris, Domaine de la Bretesche also attracts companies looking for inspiring seminars. The meeting rooms in the former washhouse, the Cour Carrée, and the stalls of the Bar des Écuries, converted into cosy alcoves, offer so many possibilities for personalized experiences. For guests in search of relaxation, gastronomy or nature, the estate offers a beautiful escape, between discreet luxury and absolute comfort.

In the surrounding area, a terroir to explore

The Missillac region is full of nuggets to discover. Just a few minutes from the estate, the Brière reveals its wild landscapes by boat or bike: canals lined with reeds, traditional thatched cottages, migratory birds… A journey through time and nature.

Heritage enthusiasts will marvel at the medieval streets of Guérande, famous for its fortified town and salt marshes, or the covered market of La Roche-Bernard, a village of craftsmen classified as a Petite Cité de Caractère.

For an iodized getaway, La Baule, with its legendary beach and Belle Époque villas, is less than 40 minutes away. Epicureans can extend their experience by exploring local markets or discovering the wine cellars of the Nantes region.

Hiking, archery, cycling or lounging by the pond: each season creates a new rhythm.
