In Paris, Le Charles pays tribute to Baudelaire…
In the discreet 5-star hotel Le Burgundy, the Parisian bar Le Charles blends poetry and mixology in a unique sensory experience. We loved it.
Le Charles: the secret refuge of modern aesthetes
In the heart of chic Burgundy Paris, Bar Le Charles offers a hushed, confidential atmosphere, true to the poetic soul of Charles Baudelaire. The place, reinvented by decorator Patrick Juliot, combines classic elegance with a touch of eclecticism. The ceiling, adorned with a fresco by Marco Del Re, pays homage to Les Fleurs du Mal and sets the scene: here, every detail has meaning.
A cocktail menu… like a collection of poems
Under the leadership of Chef Barman Gabriele Tomasso, Le Charles’ brand-new menu takes on an astonishing form: a collection of liquid poems. Each cocktail embodies a Baudelairean emotion – spleen, intoxication, revolt, romance – blending unexpected ingredients, subtle fragrances and narrative design.
Among the most intriguing creations? The “Vice Caché”, based on vodka, green chartreuse and red pepper, will awaken your soul or your mischief… As for the “Rêve enfumé”, its rum, Lapsang Souchong smoked tea and blackcurrant liqueur will almost transport you to an opium-smoking salon. We won’t reveal more about the menu, to leave you with the surprise of a sensory and immersive experience that transforms tasting into a literary ritual.
An elegant interlude from morning to night
From breakfast to cocktails, Le Charles adapts to any time of day. At lunchtime, the neobistro cuisine by Mylo Levin is bright and refined. At snack time (Thursday to Sunday), pastries are combined with sweet creations from the bar.
And from 6pm, it’s time for theliterary afterwork: candlelit ambience, hushed music and freshly prepared tapas – perfect for prolonging the evening in a confidential atmosphere.
Bar Le Charles offers much more than just a drink: a liquid tribute to poetry, to be enjoyed solo or in pairs, for a date that stands out from the crowd.
