Daniel Buren & Miles Greenberg: an original dialogue for Art Basel Paris
In autumn 2025, Reiffers Art Initiatives brings together two generations of artists for an exceptional exhibition in Paris. The master of in situ art Daniel Buren becomes the mentor of young Canadian performer Miles Greenberg, for a collaboration that promises to be as unexpected as it is powerful.
A 5ᵉ edition of mentoring under the sign of contrast
Since 2021, Reiffers Art Initiatives has brought to life encounters between international figures in contemporary art and young talents on the emerging scene. Following in the footsteps of Rashid Johnson, Kehinde Wiley and Lorna Simpson, Daniel Buren, the emblematic artist of in situ interventions, becomes the program’s first French mentor. He will accompany Canadian-born performer and sculptor Miles Greenberg, 28, until their joint exhibition atArt Basel Paris in October.
Buren, Greenberg: two visions, a fertile tension
Everything contrasts between the two artists. Buren, known for his famous columns at the Palais-Royal, constructs his works in dialogue with architecture. Greenberg, on the other hand, explores the limits of the body, through extreme performances and immersive installations. And it is precisely this opposition that underpins the richness of their collaboration. As Buren himself points out, “I’m particularly interested in this more confrontational approach”. For his part, Greenberg sees this dialogue as an opportunity to explore the deep connections between materiality and immateriality, in an exhibition where their worlds confront and enrich each other.
A permanent work by Buren
In parallel with the exhibition, Daniel Buren will unveil a permanent site-specific work for the Reiffers Art Center. This powerful gesture will leave a lasting trace of this intergenerational encounter on the Parisian artistic landscape.
A major event at Art Basel Paris
With this latest edition, Reiffers Art Initiatives confirms its role as a key player in supporting young contemporary artists and cultural diversity. An event that promises to make its mark on the back-to-school art scene.
