L’Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs: a chic stopover between dreams of elsewhere and Left Bank elegance

Nestled on rue de Vaugirard in Paris’s 6th arrondissement, Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs is much more than just a place to stay. Conceived as a private residence for modern explorers, it combines auteur design, Parisian culture, New York spirit and refined art de vivre.

A permanent invitation to depart

Since its opening in October 2023, the Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs has established itself as a confidential address for lovers of aesthetics and travel. Located at the crossroads of the world – between Saint-Germain-des-Prés and Montparnasse – this 138-room hotel combines the soul of the Left Bank with a cosmopolitan spirit. The place pays homage to great crossings, object collectors, art enthusiasts and curious dreamers.

Milanese architect Fabrizio Casiraghi designed the interior. His unmistakable style – a blend of architectural rigor, sensual materials and historical references – creates a décor that’s both warm and cinematic. Mahogany colors, discreet brass, olive-green velvet and 1930s-inspired furniture: everything is designed to evoke the atmosphere of the great sleeping cars or hushed clubs of the transatlantic liners of yesteryear.

Rooms like precious cabins

The hotel offers 138 rooms in five categories, from Classique to Junior Suite, some of which are interconnecting for families. Each room resembles an intimate and refined interlude: silky woodwork, elegant moldings, star motifs on the carpets, bas-reliefs sculpted by François Gilles, or vinyl turntables for the most spacious. Attention to detail transforms every night into a soothing voyage.

Welcome products by Diptyque and a hushed atmosphere complete this urban cocoon, designed for those who want to experience Paris at their own pace.

A transatlantic brasserie where Paris and New York converse at table

On the first floor, the Grands Voyageurs brasserie pays tribute to the gourmet complicity between Paris and New York. Around a sculptural, theatrical central bar, mythical dishes from both continents meet: steak tartare vs. grilled cheese, vichyssoise vs. Waldorf Salad, lobster roll vs. pâté en croûte.

The décor is as vibrant as the plate: lithographs by Klimt, brass leaves by Osanna Visconti, metal sculptures by Stefan Traloc. It’s a living theater where diners settle in for a tasty stopover, from lunch until nightfall.

Poppy, the hidden address for night owls

A few steps further down, the Poppy bar has a surprise in store for insiders. Inspired by the speakeasies of the Prohibition years, you’d never guess it from the lobby. It’s a hushed, almost secret place, where the botanical cocktail menu is served in a subdued atmosphere, punctuated from 10pm by electro and deep house DJ sets.

On the wall, works by Chagall remind us that the artist also lived on rue de Vaugirard. A veritable cocoon for aesthetes and night owls, Poppy offers a different, more confidential, freer way of experiencing Paris.

A foothold in a neighborhood of connoisseurs

The Hôtel des Grands Voyageurs is ideally located for those wishing to explore the Paris of galleries, bookshops, museums and elegant cafés. Just a stone’s throw away: Maison Gainsbourg, Musée Zadkine, La Grande Épicerie, Closerie des Lilas. The hotel is also next door to the Ferrandi school, the “Harvard of gastronomy”, further proof that we’re in the heart of a lively, intellectual and gourmet district.

Fabrizio Casiraghi, alchemist of timeless elegance

Design director Fabrizio Casiraghi has created one of his finest projects in Paris. Inspired by vintage furniture, Milanese masters such as Gio Ponti, and the performing arts, the young architect has created an address where every detail counts. Nothing is left to chance: clean lines, elaborate lighting, Asian or Italian touches… Everything invites you to dream.
