Air France’s secret rooftop for Business Class lunches
What if travel no longer required a plane ticket? That’s the astonishing gamble Air France is taking with its new ephemeral restaurant, set up this summer in Paris. No boarding, no turbulence – just a breathtaking sensory, gastronomic and visual experience.
A high-altitude interlude from Air France
After its first high-profile launch during the 2024 Olympic Games at the Palais de Tokyo, Air France is reinventing culinary travel. This time, it’s heading for the eighth floor of Galeries Lafayette, where the French airline is opening the doors of a confidential ephemeral restaurant, from June 25 to August 20, 2025.
Here, the view replaces the porthole, and the panorama of the Parisian rooftops invites itself onto the plate. Conceived as a timeless stopover, this restaurant reinterprets the long-haul Business experience, without ever leaving the ground.
20 places at the table… and three stars
The menu, devised by three-star chef Régis Marcon, celebrates French gastronomy at its finest. Trio of lemony Camargue rice, poultry with morel mushrooms, crunchy dessert by Nina Métayer: each dish recalls the refinement of menus served at an altitude of 10,000 meters… but in unexpected comfort.
The glasses are filled with wines selected by Crillon sommelier Xavier Thuizat. All served on porcelain trays, in a hushed décor that echoes the elegant codes of Air France: navy blue, luminous white and touches of red.
An “immobile flight” to experience this summer
The concept is as astonishing as it is seductive: lunch just like on a plane… but without taking off. Instead of safety instructions, a 180° view of Paris. Instead of a reclining seat, a deckchair or chic armchair. An immersive, audacious and resolutely urban experience, redefining travel as an art of living in its own right.
