Jeff Koons transforms balloons into high-tech objects: art invites itself into your living room
What if your loudspeaker became a work of art? Or your lamp a gallery sculpture? That’s exactly what the Lexon × Jeff Koons collaboration proposes.
When Jeff Koons transforms art into everyday technology
American artist Jeff Koons, master of ultra-pop and kitsch, has teamed up with Lexon to reinvent his famous Balloon Dogs as technological objects. The result? Two never-before-seen pieces: Balloon Dog Speaker and Balloon Dog Lamp. These limited editions, developed in partnership with the Broad Museum in Los Angeles, combine sculpture and innovation in an ultra-contemporary format.
Taking up the iconic shape of the balloon dog, both objects retain Koons’ visual DNA: bright curves, shiny surfaces and a signature “puffed” effect. But here, pop aesthetics meet intelligent design, halfway between collectible gadget and work of art to be contemplated.
A sculptural, connected jewel
The Balloon Dog Speaker, the audio version of the sculpture, features a 360° Bluetooth 5.0 speaker with 6 passive transducers for precise, powerful sound reproduction. Each ear and paw hides cutting-edge technology: immersive audio quality, hands-free calling compatibility and intuitive design.
For its part, the Balloon Dog Lamp hides 400 modular LEDs, 200 hours of autonomy, and extensive customization. The choice is yours: warm or cool white, pink, orange, green… The lamp adapts to the atmosphere and becomes a scenographic lighting tool, both functional and artistic.
From museum icon to personal object
The genius of this collaboration lies in its democratization of art. Thanks to augmented reality (AR), it’s even possible to view the full-size piece in your own home via your smartphone. It’s an accessible, playful immersion, designed to bring Koons into the home, without the need for galleries.
Each piece is engraved with Jeff Koons’ official signature, and comes with a holographic certificate of authenticity. Production is limited, making each piece highly desirable – whether you’re a collector or just a contemporary art lover, beware the break.
