Miss. Tic: an exhibition pays tribute to the street art icon

Three years after her death, a free exhibition pays tribute to Miss. Tic in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, just a stone’s throw from her former studio.

Her name is inseparable from the walls of Paris. From her feminine silhouettes to her indiscriminate black hair and her incisive puns, Miss. Tic has left a lasting mark on the collective imagination. From September 27 to October 25, 2025, Galerie Mathgoth is devoting a free exhibition to her, outside the walls, in the 13th arrondissement, not far from where she lived and created.

A stencil pioneer turned Parisian figure

Born Radhia Aounallah, Miss. Tic established herself in the 1980s as one of the first women in French street art. At a time when graffiti remained a male bastion, she imposed her voice, her thoughts and her slogans. Behind each stencil, a reflection on freedom, femininity and politics. Miss. Tic tattoos the city with subtlety, in contrast to the loud bombs. Paris becomes her canvas, and she her invisible author.

She passed away in 2022, leaving behind a body of work as visual as it was intellectual, often imitated but never equalled.

An exhibition to reveal the intimate

After an institutional tribute at the Palais des Papes, this exhibition takes a more personal approach. Conceived by those closest to him – Charlotte and Antoine Novat, his stepchildren, in association with the founders of the Mathgoth gallery – the event offers an immersion into his intimate, creative universe.

The exhibition will feature some sixty works, as well as personal objects, working documents, previously unseen photos and never-before-seen stencil matrices. An entire room will be devoted to archive videos, to (re)give voice to the woman who wrote: “I left to stay.”

A district symbolizing urban renewal

Choosing the 13th arrondissement is no coincidence: it’s one of the hotspots of street art in Paris, with its monumental frescoes, alternative galleries and streets that tell a different story of the city. It’s also an opportunity to rediscover the district through the prism of an artist who has captured the spirit of her times.
