Cinema under the stars at La Monnaie de Paris
When heritage meets the silver screen, magic happens. This summer, La Monnaie de Paris invites cinephiles to a unique experience: four evenings of open-air cinema, from July 23 to 26, in its cobbled courtyard on the Quai de Conti. Entitled Une toile sous les étoiles, this cultural event takes you on a journey through time… and genres.
A historic setting for a timeless cinema
For over 250 years, La Monnaie de Paris has been minting coins in the heart of Paris. This summer, it transforms its historic site into an open-air projection room. An exceptional setting, with listed buildings, golden evening light and a breathtaking view of the Seine. Each film selected evokes, in its own way, an era, a quest, or a vision of the world – in resonance with the history of the site.
An eclectic, immersive program
July 23 – Amadeus (1984)
Eight-time Oscar winner Milos Forman‘s masterpiece plunges you into Mozart’s Vienna. A majestic opening in a setting worthy of Baroque palaces.
July 24 – The Count of Monte Cristo (2024)
The eagerly-awaited new adaptation by Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte. A romantic fresco starring Pierre Niney and filmed in sumptuous historical settings.
July 25 – The Visitors (1993)
A crazy time warp with Jean Reno and Christian Clavier, for an evening of 90s humor and nostalgia.
July 26 – Inception (2010)
Christopher Nolan’ s vertiginous closing with his labyrinth of interlocking dreams, to be savored under a starry sky.
A full, festive and gourmet evening
From 7pm, La Monnaie de Paris opens its doors to the public. On the program: musical entertainment, gourmet stalls and free access to temporary exhibitions. The atmosphere is friendly, chic and unpretentious, ideal for a summer afterwork or family cultural get-together.
