Les Fous de l’Île: the lively, gourmet bistro on Île Saint-Louis

Under the impetus of Joseph Valat, this address in the 4ᵉ arrondissement revives the brasserie spirit in a generous, joyful and uninhibited way.

Located 33 rue des Deux Ponts, in the heart of the Île Saint-Louis, Les Fous de l’Île reinvents the spirit of the Parisian bistro by injecting a dose of freshness, terroir and conviviality. Taken over in 2025 by Joseph Valat, a young entrepreneur from Aveyron, the restaurant has become a lively brasserie, accessible without being banal, warm without being conventional. Here, chic without fuss reigns supreme.

A cuisine that blends terroir and modernity

In charge of the kitchen, Joëlson Vieira, a former Michelin-starred chef from Poitiers, infuses the menu with a subtle blend of traditional dishes and masterful creativity. The result? Generous, straightforward plates where taste takes precedence over concept.

Among the signature dishes, the perfectly executed €35 lobster is an exception: a gastronomic piece at an affordable price. There’s also the unmissable Aveyron sausage-purée, a tribute to the founder’s roots, and the melting Beef Wellington, fast becoming a neighborhood favorite. Grilled fish, matured meats, gourmet homemade desserts… each dish reflects a demand for well-crafted products.

A wine cellar in its own right

Wine plays an essential role at Les Fous de l’Île. The winemakers on the menu are selected as much for the quality of their vintages as for the ties forged with the team over the years. In the basement, an intimate, private cellar welcomes wine lovers at any time: for a tasting, a glass with friends, or an after-dinner digestif. A confidential space, far from the noise, at the crossroads of authenticity and sharing.

A lively place, anchored in its neighborhood

What makes Les Fous de l’Île so unique is the energy of the place: families, artists, regulars and tourists all come together to share a good time. The restaurant is as much about living as it is about savoring. The decor, slightly offbeat, blends warm wood, touches of humor and vintage furniture. Everything is designed to create a relaxed atmosphere, conducive to conversation and loyalty.

Always on the move, the restaurant offers one-off events: musical dinners, creative collaborations, artistic happenings, or limited editions based on seasonal products. This dynamic approach makes Les Fous de l’Île a lively address to be (re)discovered all year round.
