Casio unveils its first automatic watch: a mechanical revolution at an affordable price

In 2025, Casio made history by launching its very first automatic watch, under its Edifice line. Gone were the days of quartz, replaced by mechanics.
Always associated with quartz technology, Casio is turning its DNA on its head. The Japanese electronic watch giant, creator of the legendary Casiotron in 1974, is unveiling a collection of automatic watches for the first time. And it’s Edifice, its motorsport-inspired line, that has the honor of opening this new chapter. A discreet but significant step forward that should appeal to mechanical watch enthusiasts in search of performance and style.
The new EFK-100 collection features five self-winding models, including the EFK-100XPB-1AER, with its forged carbon case. This material, derived from the automotive world, gives each watch a unique marbled pattern. More than just a design exercise, it’s an incursion into the culture of speed and precision engineering, without denying the brand’s technological DNA.
A watch designed as an engine
Each model features a 24-jewel automatic movement with bidirectional winding and a 40-hour power reserve. The transparent caseback reveals this mechanism in action, a deliberate reference to suspension systems and racing engines. Water-resistant to 100 meters and featuring sapphire crystal, the watches display the date at 6 o’clock and are equipped withphosphorescent hands for optimal night-time readability.
The three main finishes – green, blue and white – reproduce the texture of forged carbon using electroforming technology. A sophisticated look for prices ranging from €279 to €449, positioning Casio in a premium entry-level segment, without denying its mission of accessibility.
And in Paris?
Parisian enthusiasts will find these watches at Emile Leon, Royal Quartz Paris and Les Montres dans le Marais. A positioning that should appeal to young executives and urban mechanics enthusiasts looking for a watch that’s technical, aesthetic and affordable.
