Tio Paris: the Mexican taqueria that brings sunshine to the 8th arrondissement

On a quiet street in the 8th arrondissement, Tio brings a breath of Mexico to Paris. With its homemade tacos, mezcal cocktails and sunny ambience, it’s a must-try address.

With Tio, restaurateur Idriss Mansour brings a piece of Tulum to Paris, combining authentic street-food with a friendly atmosphere. Nestled on rue Saint-Philippe du Roule, this small 24-seat restaurant offers sincere, colorful Mexican cuisine designed for sharing.

Mexico City-style homemade tacos

The heart of the menu? Tacos, served on homemade corn tortillas, hand-kneaded on volcanic rock. An important detail that changes everything in the mouth. Must-try recipes include Al Suadero (lamb confit with coriander), Al Pastor (pineapple-marinated pork), Arrachera (grilled beef) and a vegetarian version with sautéed mushrooms and avocado cream.

The most daring? The Special Tio, garnished with tempura prawns, spiced up with homemade mayonnaise and crunchy radishes. Each bite balances textures, between crunchy, melting and fresh.

A generous menu to share

The experience often begins with starters to share: Tulum-style ceviche, shredded beef nachos, homemade guacamole, or string cheese tequeños. At lunchtime, burritos are served in pork, chipotle chicken or veggie versions.

On the drinks front, the bar features tequila 1800 and mezcal. Behind the counter, Virgil Henri (ex-Little Red Door) composes bespoke cocktails, such as the Margarita Picante or the fruitier Pineapple Margarita. A selection of South American wines completes the offer.

A natural decor by Sophie Lacroix

The setting was imagined by Sophie Lacroix, using natural materials: light-colored wood, hand-crafted ceramics, fiberglass ceilings and graphic cacti. The atmosphere is soft by day, more intimate by night. Every detail has been taken care of, right down to the bespoke plates, shaped and designed by the founder himself.

Tio is the Mexican taqueria that’s been missing in Paris: traditional, bright, with no folklore. An ideal address for a dinner with friends or an exotic lunch.
