La Réserve de Beaulieu: the French Riviera’s legendary address, the ideal spot to extend your summer
Facing the Mediterranean, between sky and silence, La Réserve de Beaulieu offers one of the most beautiful refuges on the Riviera.
There are places that grab you the moment you cross the threshold. Places apart, where luxury isn’t flaunted, but can be discerned in a look, a light, an absence of noise. La Réserve de Beaulieu is such a place. Here, you arrive tense, leave transformed. This discreet palace by the water tells a different story of elegance. An art of living that takes its time. And you, too, will soon be slowing down.
A pink villa at the end of the world
As soon as you arrive, you’re struck by the calm. The lapping of the waves, the mimosas in bloom, the warm stone beneath your feet. The powder-pink façade emerges, topped with elaborate balconies. A Florentine villa nestled between Nice and Monaco, miraculously set against the sea. The entrance is hushed and unostentatious. The staff greet you by name, with a sincere smile. Everything flows smoothly. You go straight to your room, and already, from the balcony, the sea beckons.
The 39 rooms, suites and villas have been completely redesigned. Beautiful, but without fuss. Cream walls, light wood, linen curtains, mosaics in the bathroom. In the Villa Mistinguett, an XXL Jacuzzi awaits you under the stars, overlooking the bay of Villefranche. The ultimate luxury? Silence, the sensation that the world has stopped. Just for you.
The table as an emotion
In the evening, rendez-vous at Restaurant des Rois. A Michelin star, yes, but far from the usual formalism. Chef Julien Roucheteau sometimes comes to greet his guests in person. He likes to surprise without overdoing it. On this particular evening, we’re served citrus-roasted langoustines and a risotto with preserved lemon. The bread is warm, the wine chilled, the sea sparkling. Conversations become gentler. The discreet service is perfectly attuned.
Next day, lunch at Vent Debout, the chic bistro facing the pool. We order a Niçoise salad, a plate of raw sea bream with lime and a glass of rosé. And then, happiness. The afternoon passes between swimming, napping in the shade and reading on the white stone deckchairs. No one speaks loudly. Everyone seems to have understood that this place deserves silence.
A La Prairie oasis of well-being
At the spa, the welcome is given in a hushed voice. The light is soft and the white stone walls radiate a soothing freshness. You choose a La Prairie anti-aging treatment, then indulge in an hour of precise, enveloping, almost medicinal massage. Afterwards, you stay in the jacuzzi, gently floating, with the impression of having reconciled with yourself. There’s also a hammam, sensory showers and a herbal tea area… but what really stands out is that rare sensation of not wanting to leave.
An inimitable house spirit
What makes La Réserve unique is the soul of the place. No standardization, no overdone marketing. Here, everything exudes independence and a passion for genuine hospitality. Nicole and Jean-Claude Delion, the owners, personally attend to every detail. You’ll sometimes come across them in the corridors, smiling and attentive. The staff doesn’t change from year to year. Nor do the regulars. You can feel that this place lives, that it has a memory, and that it opens its doors to you with kindness.
Why should you go?
Because you deserve to put down your suitcases in a place that feels good. A place that cares for the soul as well as the body. Because a weekend here is a rare interlude: waking up in your bathrobe facing the sea, breakfast under the oleanders, a glass of champagne on the patio listening to the piano. And above all, that nagging feeling when you leave: that you’ve finally found your place.
