Restaurant Club Matignon, the Paris Design Week insiders’ meeting place
For Paris Design Week, Le Matignon is the secret address for aesthetes, designers and food lovers.
With its blend of Parisian elegance, refined gastronomy and nightlife, the Matignon embodies the discreet luxury of the Golden Triangle.
Located at 3 avenue Matignon, a stone’s throw from the Champs-Élysées and the Grand Palais, the Matignon is more than just a restaurant: it’s an institution. Day and night, it attracts local and international clientele in search of a gastronomic, artistic and festive experience. During Paris Design Week, an annual gathering of design talent in the capital’s most beautiful venues, the Matignon becomes a privileged haunt from breakfast to lunch, a place to exchange ideas and prolong discussions over cocktails under the club’s neon lights.
The restaurant’s first attraction is its contemporary, generous cuisine. Seasonal produce takes pride of place, sublimated by homemade recipes such as King Crab, spaghetti-style calamari or the famous Crying Tiger, the signature dish of Gilbert and Thierry Costes’ Beaumarly group. Whether on the terrace, under the veranda or in the cosy dining room, service is impeccable, and every detail contributes to the discreetly chic atmosphere so characteristic of the area.
A place where design and gastronomy meet
What sets Le Matignon apart during Paris Design Week is its ability to extend aesthetics to the plate and decor. The restaurant, designed by Jacques Garcia, adjoins the art galleries and luxury homes that line Avenue Matignon, Avenue Montaigne and Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. In this environment where visual creation reigns, it offers the perfect setting to welcome designers, architects and collectors.
The interior, both modern and sensual, blends 70s safari club influences, from leopard-print carpets to fabrics in warm hues. Architect Charles Tassin was responsible for this setting, designing a hybrid space that feels as much like a private salon as a prestigious restaurant. The Matignon becomes a natural meeting place for design professionals, who share a common aesthetic sensibility.
The club: the other scene at Paris Design Week
From 11pm, the Matignon enters its second life. Its clublocated in the basement, attracts discerning night owls. With its signature cocktails, prestigious vintages and international DJs, it transforms into a musical laboratory, where disco, house and world sounds electrify the Parisian night.
During Paris Design Week, the Matignon evenings take on a special dimension. You’ll meet design figures, artists from all over the world and insiders looking for alternative venues to more institutional events. In this intimate setting, discussions continue into the wee hours of the morning, far from the hustle and bustle of the big fairs.
A crossroads between art of living and creation
Le Matignon’s success is based on a subtle recipe: demanding cuisine, attentive service, bold décor and a cutting-edge musical program. This positioning makes it a discreet but essential landmark on the Parisian scene, where people come as much for the food as for the atmosphere.
For Paris Design Week, this dual identity of restaurant and club makes sense. Because design, in essence, is a meeting of function and emotion, use and aesthetics. And this is precisely what the Matignon offers every evening: a space where the boundaries between gastronomy, art, music and design are blurred.
