Amalthée in Boulogne-Billancourt: solar-powered brasserie, chef’s cuisine

Brasserie Amalthée celebrates its first anniversary. Located just a stone’s throw from Paris, it confirms its status as one of the must-visit restaurants in western Paris.

In barely a year, Amalthée has established itself as one of Boulogne-Billancourt’s most popular addresses. Opened in mid-May 2024 by Alexandre Chapon (owner of Chez Julien in Paris, which we love) and his nephew Maxime Thevenin, this elegant and ultra-convivial brasserie is celebrating its anniversary today with a new lunchtime menu, designed for gourmets in a hurry… but demanding.

Seasonal cuisine by a Michelin-starred chef

To orchestrate this new culinary proposition, the two founders called on a big name: Éric Jolibois, ex-chef of the Galvin La Chapelle restaurant in London, where he won a Michelin star. His arrival marks a clear move upmarket for Amalthée, without losing the brasserie spirit that has made it such a success.

The new lunch menu runs from Monday to Friday lunchtime, with three price options: main course at €22; starter/main course or main course/dessert at €29; and the full menu at €39.

The menu evolves with the seasons. At the moment: egg mayo revisited, salmon tartar and Granny Smith apple, green asparagus risotto, skate wing meunière or beef onglet with chimichurri sauce. On the sweet side, a chocolate mousse or the gargantuan pavlova end lunch on a gourmet note.

A year-round terrace at the gateway to Paris

Located at 32 avenue Jean-Baptiste Clément, the Amalthée brasserie also boasts a large terrace, ideal for sunny days. In winter, the terrace is heated and plaids are available, so you can enjoy the outdoors whatever the temperature. In the shade or in full sun, it extends lunches, business breakfasts or last drinks with friends. Continuous service, from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day, makes it a place where you can come at any time. Amalthée is an address for regulars.

Sarah Poniatowski, founder of Maison Sarah Lavoine, designed the decor: a warm, chic setting, with soft colors and noble materials. The result is a hushed, relaxed atmosphere in keeping with the spirit of the founders.

An address firmly rooted in its neighbourhood… and beyond

As soon as it opened, the whole of Boulogne flocked to Amalthée. André’s butcher’s shop, just opposite the restaurant, supplies the meat for one of the classics on the menu. The address also attracts many Parisians in search of fine dining off the beaten track. Close to the 16th arrondissement and accessible by metro (line 10, Boulogne – Jean Jaurès station), it is becoming a credible alternative to the overcrowded Parisian brasseries.

With its close-knit team, refined cuisine and no-nonsense atmosphere, Amalthée represents the new generation of neighborhood restaurants that are making a name for themselves far beyond the Paris ring road.
