Rowing across Paris 2025: the Seine becomes the stage for an exceptional sporting adventure

On Sunday, September 14, 2025, during the Fête du Sport, Paris celebrates the 40th edition of its Traversée en aviron.

A record edition for a unique event on the Seine

With 1400 rowers and 280 boats registered, this 40th edition promises to be the most international and eagerly awaited ever. The only date of the year when navigation is interrupted in Paris, it offers a rare spectacle between monuments and historic bridges. Organized by the Ligue Île-de-France d’Aviron and the Boulogne 92 club, the race has been sold out for several months. The 28 km course between Boulogne-Billancourt and Paris passes through some of the capital’s most beautiful sites. The atmosphere is one of celebration, sport and sharing, in a spirit of friendly competition between enthusiasts.

A unique view of Paris, to the rhythm of the trains

The Traversée de Paris is more than just a nautical excursion, it’s an immersion in the city from its most beautiful vantage point: the Seine. Rowers pass the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame and the quayside, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The event brings together clubs, amateurs, champions, volunteers and families in a convivial atmosphere. With 30% of participants coming from Europe, the international dimension grows stronger every year. The experience is physical, cultural and unforgettable. Each oar becomes a tribute to heritage and the love of sport.

Committed to sustainable, inclusive sport

La Traversée also embodies the new, forward-looking ambitions of the French Rowing Federation. It supports gender diversity, develops disciplines such as sea rowing and indoor rowing, and promotes a more responsible sport. Shoreline clean-up, waste reduction and eco-responsibility awareness are among the commitments made at every event. Through this extraordinary regatta, rowing shows that it can combine sporting excellence, transmission, innovation and ecological awareness. A fine demonstration of the values defended as part of the Fête du Sport.
