Stainless steel: shine without scratching with natural products
Fingerprints, dull patches, micro-scratches: your kitchen is easy on the eyes. But stainless steel can be restored to its original
The right gestures to shine without scratching
Start with a gentle pH-neutral cleaning in lukewarm water. Always scrub in the direction of the brush, never in circles, to respect the stainless steel. Use a clean microfiber, then dry immediately to prevent limescale build-up. Finally, polish with a drop of edible oil on a dry cloth.
It also reduces the number of utensils and the amount of cleaning required. So you can keep your stainless steel surfaces cleaner for longer.
For greasy stains, a little washing-up liquid works wonders. Mineral marks, on the other hand, can be removed with white vinegar diluted 1:1. Always rinse and dry, as the acid must not stagnate on the stainless steel. Avoid abrasive powders, chlorine bleach and metal sponges.
“To preserve shine, advance in the direction of the grain and dry without delay.”
Home-made or dedicated products: what to choose, when and how
Homemade recipes cover 80% of everyday needs. For example, the duo of black soap and microfiber is sufficient for a light greasy film. In addition, a bicarbonate-water paste helps to remove isolated marks. Always test on an inconspicuous area before using a product on stainless steel.

Frequent errors and express solutions

Cristel – Renox eco-responsible products: guilt-free cleaning. The range is designed to maintain surfaces and reduce residues.
To remove limescale, wipe with a cloth soaked in diluted vinegar for 3 to 5 minutes. Rinse, then dry carefully to avoid stains. What’s more, a drop of methylated spirits on a microfiber wipes away fingerprints. On brushed stainless steel, always use the same direction.

Apply to a cloth, not directly to the door. That way, you can better control humidity on stainless steel.
Equipment and professional gestures at home
Use two microfibres: one for washing, the other for drying. In addition, use a tight weave for final polishing. A soft brush helps on joints and rails, without touching the stainless steel. Finally, a drop of mineral oil creates a discreet protective film.
