The 2014 Lamborghini Veneno is one of the rarest and most coveted cars on the planet. Unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show to celebrate the Italian brand’s 50th anniversary, it pushes the boundaries of automotive design with lines worthy of a futuristic racing prototype. Only three examples of the Coupé version were produced, making it an almost inaccessible model, even for wealthy collectors.

Under the hood lies a 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 developing 750 hp, capable of propelling the beast from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds. Top speed reaches 355 km/h, performance worthy of the racetrack, but homologated for the road. It’s a raw demonstration of power and technology, in a body mostly made of ultra-light carbon.

While this $16.9 million (approx. €15.6 million) Veneno is currently being offered for sale, some Parisian car enthusiasts are already hoping to catch a glimpse of it at an exclusive Paris event, such as the Salon Rétromobile or a private Top Marques-type exhibition. Paris is a city that attracts international collectors, and it wouldn’t be surprising if such a rare example ended up in a garage in Neuilly-sur-Seine or a discreet showroom in the 8th arrondissement.

The asking price is revealing: $16.9 million, ten times the price of a new Lamborghini Aventador. For this price, we’re paying for exclusivity, pedigree, but also speculation on a model that will probably never be reproduced.
