The Ritz Paris unveils its upcycled tote bags: 40 unique pieces designed from the hotel’s fabrics

The Ritz Paris reveals an exceptional collection of 40 entirely upcycled tote bags. Made from the hotel’s own upholstery fabrics, these unique tote bags perpetuate the history and aesthetics of the House. Numbered and hand-crafted, these exceptional pieces illustrate a new stage in the Ritz Paris CSR approach.

A tribute to the heritage of the Ritz Paris

The project is based on historic fabrics from the hotel’s curtains, bedspreads, wall hangings, cushions and armchairs. These textiles tell the story of the Ritz Paris heritage, shaped by Marie-Louise Ritz, wife of César Ritz. A passionate aesthete, she imposed the Louis XV style on the hotel, with motifs inspired by nature and exceptional fabrics supplied by the great French houses.
La Maison has chosen to give a second life to these noble materials. Each bag reflects the memory of the place, with its blend of elegance, tradition and savoir-faire.

Contemporary craftsmanship

The Ritz Paris has created a series of 40 unique tote bags with a contemporary design. The fabrics used come in soft, refined hues: blue, cream, yellow or pink. The front is embroidered with the Ritz Paris logo and coat of arms. The tote bags are made entirely by hand in Cambrai.
Each piece takes almost two hours to make, divided into 21 manufacturing stages. The embroidery is carried out by one of the last French embroiderers to practice hand-stitching. She is renowned for her precision and exacting standards, qualities that give this collection its strength. After embroidery, each piece is carefully labeled and numbered.

An assertive CSR approach

This upcycled collection is part of the Ritz Paris’ commitment to combining excellence, heritage and responsibility. In 2024, the House had already presented jewelry made from fragments of Haviland porcelain from the hotel’s tableware.
With these 40 tote bags, the hotel is pursuing an approach that values sustainable creation, French know-how and transmission. Each piece becomes a precious object, designed to last and reflect an exceptional art of living.
