Caffè Stern: Starck’s Venetian elegance in a confidential Paris setting

In the heart of the Passage des Panoramas, a stone’s throw from the Grands Boulevards, nestles a confidential, one-of-a-kind address. The Caffè Stern, a former 19th-century engraving workshop listed as a historic monument, has been transformed by brothers Massimiliano and Raffaele Alajmo, the Michelin-starred duo behind Italy’s Calandre, with the help of Philippe Starck. The result is a singular place, steeped in memory, where Venetian cuisine flirts with modernity, in a setting where every detail seems whispered by time.

A setting between light and memory

As soon as you enter, the charm takes hold. Philippe Starck, true to his ability to transcend the existing without betraying it, has infused the place with a discreet poetry, playing on materials, half-light and contrasts. The antique furniture, centuries-old woodwork and nods to the history of the place – once a temple of prestige engraving for the Élysée Palace – give the Caffè Stern a rare soul. A Parisian “bacaro” where Venice seems to breathe between the walls.

A menu signed by a legend of Italian gastronomy

In charge of the kitchen, chef Alessandro Fornaro, who trained with some of the best, offers a contemporary and delicate interpretation of the Venetian cuisine imagined by Max Alajmo. Guided by Marco Galdi, the front-of-house team provides attentive, made-to-measure service, tailored to the needs of each guest. On the menu: tagliolini with dill, lobster and pistachio sauce, cappuccino “alla bolognese”, veal liver alla veneziana with fried polenta…

Each dish is an immersion in the Italy of yesterday and today. The experience continues with an impressive wine list: more than 500 references selected with passion, including confidential Italian nuggets, grands crus and in-house creations to be discovered like an oenological walk.

Tailor-made service in a cosy atmosphere

Caffè Stern cultivates the art of entertaining with a rare elegance. Guided by Marco Galdi, the team provides attentive, personalized service in an atmosphere that blends relaxation and sophistication. Just like Massimiliano Alajmo’s philosophy: “The Caffè Stern is an informal place, where everyone should feel at ease. The cuisine expresses Venice in its thoughtful simplicity.

A truly timeless experience

More than a restaurant, Caffè Stern is a cultural journey. A place apart, reserved for aesthetes and the curious in search of discreet beauty and sincere flavors. Ideal for a romantic dinner, a refined lunch or a suspended moment away from the hustle and bustle of Paris. A nugget in Paris.
