Philippe Starck, true to his ability to transcend the existing without betraying it, has infused the place with a discreet poetry, playing on materials, half-light and contrasts. The antique furniture, centuries-old woodwork and nods to the history of the place – once a temple of prestige engraving for the Élysée Palace – give the Caffè Stern a rare soul.
