Netflix disappears from some TVs in 2025: the full list of affected models
Is your TV displaying an error message when starting your favorite series? You’re not alone. Netflix is gradually ceasing to work on several Smart TV models and older devices, leaving millions of users without an immediate solution.
Why the application disappears from some screens
The streaming service regularly updates its technical requirements. As a result, devices that can no longer support these upgrades lose access to the platform. This decision is based on security and performance constraints.
Samsung TVs marketed in the early 2010s are among the first to be affected. Smart TV models released before 2015 no longer receive the updates needed to run the application.
Similarly, LG Smart TVs from the same period suffer the same fate. Although still functional, these screens are now incompatible with the latest versions of the streaming software.
“Affected users should consider alternative solutions to continue enjoying their content.”
Brands and models affected in detail
At Sony, Smart TVs marketed in the early 2010s are losing access to the catalog. In particular, the pre-2015 Bravia range has not supported the application for several months.
Panasonic televisions of this generation are experiencing the same difficulties. Although still present in many homes, these devices no longer benefit from the required technical support.
In addition, TCL has seen its Smart TVs launched in the early 2010s removed from the list of compatible devices. This situation mainly affects the brand’s first connected models.
- Samsung, LG, Sony and Panasonic Smart TVs from before 2015
- Sony Bravia manufactured between 2012 and 2015
- Samsung series sold from 2012 to 2015
- PlayStation 3 and older Apple TVs (generations 1, 2 and 3)
- TCL Smart TV from the early 2010s
Consoles and boxes also affected
The PlayStation 3 is one of the collateral victims of this change. Despite its remarkable longevity, Sony’s console can no longer be used to access the video-on-demand service.
FromApple‘s point of view, older generations of Apple TV are undergoing the same treatment. First-, second- and third-generation boxes are now obsolete for streaming.
These once revolutionary devices no longer meet today’s standards. Their limited processors and memory now prevent modern applications from running smoothly.
How to check if your device is affected
Go to the settings for your TV or set-top box. Find the exact year of manufacture and model number. Then compare this information with the official list of compatible devices.
An error message when launching the application is often the first sign. An inability to update the software also usually confirms incompatibility.
How to keep watching your series
The most economical solution is to buy a recent streaming box. Devices such as the Chromecast, Fire TV Stick or the latest Apple TV cost less than a hundred euros.
This leaves your TV perfectly usable for the picture. Only the small external box manages access to Netflix and other streaming platforms.
Some users opt for a new TV set. This more expensive option nevertheless offers better picture quality and extended functionality.
You should also check whether your current game console supports the service. PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and recent Xboxes remain fully compatible with the platform.
