The most popular jeans of 2025? Thank you Kendrick Lamar (and Celine)

A legendary show, a vintage cut and a rapper in full command of his symbols: that’s all it took to transform a simple pair of jeans into a cult item. In January 2025, during the Super Bowl halftime show, Kendrick Lamar crystallized attention… and re-launched the bootcut to the top of the trends.

The Super Bowl, a fashion launch pad

On stage at the Caesars Superdome, the Compton-born rapper delivered an incandescent performance, surrounded by SZA, Serena Williams and Samuel L. Jackson. But beyond the music, it was his look that captivated: Martine Rose jacket, Compton cap, and above all a pair of Marco jeans by Celine, with a bootcut cut, wide at the bottom and resolutely 2000’s.

This silhouette, already seen in the company’s runway shows, notably with the Serge model in tribute to Serge Gainsbourg, was given an instant second wind.

+412% searches: the hype is real

According to the Lyst platform, queries for the term “flared jeans” exploded by +412% in just a few days. A dizzying score, largely fueled by social networks, where TikTok and Instagram users vied with each other in inventiveness to reproduce Kendrick Lamar’s steps, flared jeans on legs.

Celine’s Marco jeans have thus become the most desired piece of the quarter. And it’s not the only one: icons such as Bella Hadid, Kate Moss and Elsa Hosk have been spotted sporting the cut, confirming its return to must-have status.

Why is the bootcut seductive again?

Because it structures the silhouette without enclosing it. Because it evokes the 2000s without falling into caricature. And above all, because it combines ease and visual length, in a context where comfort no longer has to sacrifice style.
