Prada glasses that film? Here’s what Meta’s up to (and why it changes everything)

What if the chicest accessory of 2025 was also the smartest? The House of Prada is set to revolutionize the luxury smart glasses market by teaming up with Meta, the technology giant behind Facebook and Instagram.

Prada and Meta: an unexpected but strategic alliance

The American channel CNBC sounded the alarm: a pair of connected Prada glasses is said to be under development in partnership with Meta and EssilorLuxottica, an optical behemoth already allied with Ray-Ban and Oakley on similar projects.

But this time, it won’t be sports or consumer brands. Prada, a symbol of intellectual and refined luxury, would be the first fashion house under license from EssilorLuxottica to integrate this type of technology. The challenge? A model capable of making calls, filming, taking photos, listening to music or broadcasting live. An extension of the smartphone… with more style.

Entering the era of “smart chic

Prada eyewear is already a desirable object. But equipping them with a technological layer would mean entering a new era of connected luxury lifestyle.
The partnership between Prada Group and EssilorLuxottica, recently renewed until 2030, creates the perfect breeding ground for this type of experimentation. At the crossroads between fashion, innovation and digital uses, this hypothesis seems more than credible.

The race for technological luxury intensifies

This possible foray by Prada echoes other strategic moves: in May 2025, Google and Kering Eyewear announced a similar agreement around extended reality glasses. On the Kering side, names such as Gucci and Balenciaga would be involved.

The challenge is clear: to take the future of augmented eyewear by storm, with a foothold in the world’s most desirable brands.
