Parisian markets with everything to please you

Streets lighten up, terraces open up… and markets rediscover their original charm: stalls without crowds, shopkeepers more available, soft morning light. Here’s our selection of the most beautiful, lively and gourmet markets to discover or rediscover this summer.

The Batignolles organic market: chic and peaceful organic living

Set up every Saturday on boulevard des Batignolles (17th arrondissement), this 100% organic market remains a safe bet for discerning Parisians.
Sourdough bread, farmhouse cheeses, cut flowers and heirloom vegetables: everything is ultra-fresh and carefully sourced.
The atmosphere remains tranquil in August, ideal for taking the time to chat with producers.

The Aligre market: the liveliest… even in summer

Situated between the 11th and 12th arrondissements, the Marché d’Aligre is a colorful, lively and bargain-filled place, even in the middle of August.
Between the outdoor stalls and the covered Halle Beauvau, you’ll find fruit, cheeses, flowers and antiques.
The atmosphere is unique and warm, often enlivened by street musicians or chatty regulars.

We love strolling here before lunch on the rue de Charenton terrace.

📍Puces d’Aligre, Pl. d’Aligre, 75012 Paris

The Saxe-Breteuil market with a view of the Eiffel Tower!

This market stretches out in front of the Eiffel Tower, between Place de Breteuil and Avenue de Saxe (7th arrondissement).
This is one of the most elegant markets in Paris, with a view that’s worth the detour alone.
Artisanal products, top-of-the-range fishmongers, rare flowers and quality catering stands.
Less crowded in August, but still the same refinement in the stalls.

📍Marché Saxe-Breteuil, 37-31 Av. de Saxe, 75007 Paris

The Raspail market: organic and left bank

Open on Sunday mornings, this market attracts a loyal and discerning clientele from the 6th arrondissement.
Entirely organic, it offers selected products, often local, and a very Left Bank atmosphere.
Between two shopping trips, you can bump into chefs who have come to pick up their fresh herbs, or incognito celebrities.
Even in August, the level remains high in terms of both products and footfall.

📍Marché Raspail, Bd Raspail, 75006 Paris

The Marché Couvert des Enfants Rouges: the ultimate food experience

It’s the oldest covered market in Paris (created in 1628)… and one of the most gourmet.
Nestled in the Haut Marais, it combines traditional stalls (primeurs, fish, cheese) with ready-to-eat world cuisine.
In August, the place remains lively but breathable, perfect for a quick lunch after shopping.
Special mention for the Lebanese, Japanese and Moroccan stalls.

The Président Wilson market: the most gastronomic of all

Located in the very chic 16th arrondissement, this market attracts Michelin-starred chefs, epicureans and lovers of fine produce.
Mature meats, rare fish, truffles, artisan breads: the quality is consistent, even in the height of summer.
The calm, well-kept setting makes the experience all the more pleasant in August.
A must-visit address for those who take cuisine (very) seriously.

A truer, more local, more gourmet Paris

In August, Paris frees itself from its excesses.
Its markets reveal their most authentic, generous and accessible face.
Taking the time to choose your tomatoes, chat with a cheesemonger or taste a juicy peach becomes a simple… but essential luxury.

Far from surface tourism, these markets are your best gateway to the real Paris.
